Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary
A weekend excursion in Karnataka that allows you to see various colours of nature would be great. For those living in Mysore, a single excursion to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Somnathpur, and Shimsha seems ideal. Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is located 18 kilometres from Mysore city and is an excellent destination to spend a wonderful weekend. It’s a small refuge known for its crocodiles and 170 different bird species. Ranganthittu offers boat cruises, which are unquestionably the finest way to see this sanctuary. Somnathpur is around 38 kilometres away from the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. Somnathpura is famous for its Hoysala architecture and the Chennakesava temple.
Nandi Hills – Muddenahalli
An outing on a weekend is much anticipated by individuals who make their living in Bengaluru. Fortunately, this cyber city’s strategic location provides it with several beautiful spots to visit that are close by. If you want to get away from the city for the weekend, a vacation to Nandi Hills and Muddenahalli is a good option. While Hogenakkal is known for its natural waterfall, Hogenakkal Falls, Krishnagiri is known for its man-made waterfall, the Krishnagiri Dam. Those travelling from Bengaluru can now stop off at Krishnagiri (approximately 90 kilometres) before continuing on to Hogenakkal (151kms from Bengaluru and 89kms from Krishnagiri).
Sangam – Mekedatu
Sangam to Mekedatu is a great weekend trip if you’re looking for a short hike. Sangam is the name given to the point where two South Indian rivers, the Arkavathi and the Kaveri, converge. It is a wonderful weekend escape for residents of Mysuru and Bengaluru. Mekedatu is a short distance from Sangam and is readily trekked. It is possible to sit by the magnificent river Kaveri at Mekedatu. This might be one of those weekend getaways that allows you to reconnect with nature and feel refreshed for the next week.
Mysore – Kodaikanal
Who hasn’t heard of Ooty? It is, after all, South India’s most popular hill station. What better spot to go for a weekend getaway than Ooty, Tamil Nadu? Ooty is a great destination to visit for a weekend getaway because it is accessible to both Mysuru (126 km) and Bengaluru (267 km). This lovely hill station entices travellers with its pleasant climate, lush coffee and tea estates, and stunning mountain views. Another fantastic destination to visit in Karnataka for a weekend getaway is Madikeri or Mercara, a lovely hill station. Madikeri is located in the state of Karnataka, between the cities of Mysuru and Mangaluru. Mercara/Madikeri, located about 117 kilometres from Mysuru and 137 kilometres from Mangaluru, offers visitors a flavour of rustic Karnataka. Madikeri is roughly 252 kilometres from Bangalore. Aside from its stunning scenery, the town is home to a 17th-century fort and temples. The primary attractions in Madikeri are Raja’s, Madikeri Fort, and Omkareshwara Temple. Coonoor
A weekend travel from Mysore, Karnataka, to Doddabetta, Tamil Nadu, is one of the most memorable weekend trips from the state. You can travel to Srirangapatna (21 kilometres from Mysore), which is known for its temples and history. The Ranganathaswamy Temple is one of Srirangapatna’s most popular attractions. You can see the unique Brindavan Gardens after taking a spiritual trip here.
